University of Scotland - Hamilton Campus

Hamilton Campus
Construction value: £25M
Location: High Blantyre, South Lanarkshire
Completion date: August 2018

HFD constructed the original family of three buildings at the Hamilton Campus which were completed in 2010 and subsequently occupied by the University of the West of Scotland (UWS).

The design linked the three buildings together by creating a large atrium space that became known as “the street” that not only acted as an entrance to the campus, but created communal meeting and break-out space and hosted a coffee shop.

The building has been fitted out to provide modern open-plan learning spaces that support technology and smart devices. The campus also hosts a 236-seat auditorium and conference facilities for up to 128 people.

The campus prioritised sustainability and is powered by 100% renewable power from the nearby wind farm, as well as photovoltaic panels on the roof. This makes it one of the UK’s greenest educational facilities.
